About Homer Electric Association, Inc.

Mission Statement:

To provide reliable electricity to our members and our community through superior customer service & innovative energy solutions at fair and reasonable prices.

Homer Electric provides service to over 30,000 meters across 3,200 square miles of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. It is a beautiful area that is home to a variety of large industrial accounts, including an oil refinery (Tesoro), a Liquid Natural Gas facility (ConocoPhillips), and oil and gas drilling fields (Hilcorp and Marathon). Homer Electric also operates and maintains the state-owned Bradley Lake Hydroelectric Project which is the largest hydro facility in Alaska.

One of our major accomplishments at Homer Electric is the transition from a distribution cooperative to a generation, transmission, and distribution cooperative. At the core of this on-going project, called Independent Light, is the construction of two power plants in our service territory. These plants are currently being built and will be on line in 2013.
