Position fabricates and installs insulation material throughout the Kenai Refinery in accordance with engineering and operation specifications. Duties also include installing, repairing, and/or modifying steam tracing as needed. All activities should be conducted in accordance to Andeavor's guiding principles, work practices, and procedures.
* Repair and/or replace refractory and burner tiles.
* Layout and material selection.
* Fabrication of insulation tees and elbows.
* Installation of insulation.
* Cutting metal and insulation using power and hand tools.
* Maintain inventory of materials on hand.
* Operate Pittsburgh machine.
* Operate brake.
* Operate different edgers and know purpose of each and keep in repair.
* Install, remove, and repair of steam tracing.
* Properly follows all asbestos abatement practices
* Other duties as assigned.
* Job Conditions*
* Hazards: High pressure lines, both hot and cold; tracing systems such as, steam, electric, glycol, hot oil; most of tools are very sharp and could cause severe injury; heights.
* Physical Surroundings: Must be constantly aware of physical surroundings and possible hazards at all times.
* Monotony: Minimal
* Safety Requirements*
Must follow and advocate for all safety policies including Stop Work Obligation (SWO). Must report all near misses and incidents to supervisor in order tor the organization to learn and improve.
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Five (5) years experience in the petrochemical insulation field.
* Must be in good physical condition. Requires lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and working at elevations on landings, ladders, scaffolds, and also from man lifts. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces. Must be able to work in personal protection equipment required for Asbestos abatement.
* Alaska Driver's License and the ability to drive Company-controlled vehicles.
* Ability to attain Asbestos Workers Certification from the State of Alaska within six months of employment.
* Schedule:* 4/10 schedule with callouts and nights/weekends as required.
